I am not the fastest person to own new technology. In some ways, I guess I’m like a stodgy old man, despite being a young (let me hang on to the word young for just a few more years)…person. (Woman makes me think of my mom’s generation). Anyway, in 2003 when I graduated from college, my dad wanted to buy me a new computer to take to graduate school…did I want him to buy me a laptop or a desktop? Oh, well, who needs a laptop? Seriously, I just want a desktop computer, laptops are sooo unnecessary. Of course, I bought myself a laptop the following year because when you’re in graduate school, it turns out laptops are really quite necessary…

Haha, just kidding. I did not ‘do’ the Pirates…that would be wrong and immoral. Though maybe I should have…at least then they would have scored at SOMETHING.

Anyway, I got a very random text message from Mindbling the other day, asking me if I would go on a ‘man date’ with Mavrick. I think she had her wording screwed up, as I was always under the impression that a man date is when two non homosexual dudes go out together. But I knew what she meant…man date as in a non-romantic date to do something manly. Friend date, if you will.

Mavrick and I pretty much decided from the beginning that we wanted to know if our little Mavbling was going to be a boy or a girl. We figured that finding out we were pregnant was surprise enough, thank you very much.  

PSA: Dormont Pool Pub Crawl/Dig Dormont Fundraiser

As you all know I live in Dormont and support every community event/fundraiser that comes down the pike.  The Dormont Pub Crawl is April, 24th, people.  Me, Chilla and Mindbling will be selling T-shirts from 5pm-7pm on event day at the Dormont Plaza <bowling tweetups place> parking lot.  Crawl starts at 7pm, so we will be going straight from there.  Remember last year??? Who’s in?

I Will Be Your Birth Control

This is NOT E-man and Smiley. I would NEVER do this! (and if I did, I would NOT take a picture of it...I mean HELLO?!?!)

That’s right. Spend a day with my kids and myself and I may just prevent any or all of you planning-to-be-parents to not only change your mind, but to also run screaming to the nearest snip doctor to get a tubal or vasectomy. You do not even have to spend the entire day with me, just one meal at a restaurant will suffice.

How It Came To Be That Mindbling Was Watching Golf

So Smiley and I were just sitting here watching Ellen and she played the following video. I have watched it now 3 times and am  laughing so hard that I want to pee myself! This actually happened to me once when I was younger and needed to have mouth surgery. I told my mom that we were in Disneyland and that I felt like a cartoon character. Lucky for me, flipcams were not invented yet, so there was no way that she could blast it on Youtube!

Why Did This Man Not Win A Nobel Peace Prize?

Many of you do not know who Thomas Angove is. Was. Hell, I didn’t know until @beth910 tweeted it. Thomas Angove, one of the greatest minds to ever brandish a wine glass, has passed away.

Mr. Angove invented the box of wine. Some might sniff and say, “So what?”. In the scope of things that have been invented, does boxed wine really stand up to say, the artificial heart? The gas-combustion motor? Antibiotics?

I say yes, yes it does. It revolutionized wine in the same way Internet revolutionized porn. It took something that already existed, and it made it better, cheaper, and more accessible. It changed the wine industry forever, and it continues to change it as more and more people (me and the Bitches) become boxed wine advocates (drunks).

I ask all of my wine-swigging readers to lift a glass in memory of the man, the myth, the brave Aussie who dared to have a dream. And a box. And a plastic bag. And also a spout.

Sidenote – The man lived to be 92 years old. If THAT’S not a ringing endorsement for the vital importance of wine as part of a healthy diet, well then I just don’t know what is.
